Help Stop a Killer
A murderer is nearing a date with the Oklahoma
Pardon and Parole Board for the cold blooded murder of a beloved
Rogers County mother.
Betty Reynolds was gunned down in
1985 while filling in at her family-owned convenience store in
Claremore. She had only been at the store a short time; she
had relieved her husband so he could enjoy watching his son's
basketball game.
While Betty was at the store, a
killer named Dale Hylock entered, killed Betty and took the money in
the cash drawer. Hylock was already on the run for the murder
of another woman in Wisconsin. In a mere 40-hours, Hylock had
murdered the Wisconsin woman, made his way to Oklahoma and killed
Betty Reynolds. Betty
Reynolds was a beloved mother of three children, one of which is now
a Captain in the Rogers County Sheriff's Office - Shane Reynolds.
Shane was with his father, returning to the store after the game
when they found his mother clinging to a life which would slip away
from her soon.
Hylock's freedom came to an end
in Colorado a few days after murdering Betty. He was convicted
in the Wisconsin murder and served eight-years in a Wisconsin
prison. He began serving a life sentence in Oklahoma in 1994
after pleading guilty.
Now, only 15-years into his life
sentence, Hylock is being considered for parole.
In an interview with Tulsa's News
Channel 6, Shane Reynolds told KOTV's Lori Fulbright that he hopes
Hylock's parole is denied.
Reynolds recounted a statement
made by his sister about the possibility of Hylock's parole.
"[He] was given a life sentence and at the same time, we were handed
one. We don't have the luxury of going before a board and saying,
'Fifteen-years later, we've been good, here's your mom back.'"
Tonight, ScottWalton.org needs your help.
Hylock's parole hearing is March 24, 2009 and the Oklahoma Parole
Board needs to hear from the good people of Rogers County and
reminded why Dale Hylock doesn't deserve to be set free.
Dale Hylock didn't just rob a
convenience store, Dale Hylock robbed an entire community of a
wonderful neighbor, a beloved mother and an adored wife.
Dale Hylock has shown no remorse
for his crime. When asked by the judge if he had killed Betty
Reynolds, Hylock replied with a matter-of-fact, "Yes." When the
judge asked if he meant to kill her, Hylock responded by saying, "I
guess I did. I shot her twice."
ScottWalton.Org asks everyone to
help keep this killer where he belongs - in prison.
